Part of: Poetry Translation Workshops Summer Season Translate Spanish poetry from Paraguay by Giselle Caputo with David Shook

Poetry Translation Centre
London

The Poetry Translation Centre is excited to welcome back bridge translator David Shook who will be introducing the workshop to the work of Paraguayan poet Giselle Caputo for the first time. In fact, this is the first time the PTC has translated poetry from Paraguay.

Born in Argentina, Giselle Caputo has lived in Paraguay since she was a child. She writes vivid contemporary poetry in a similar vein to Legna Rodriguez Iglesias and Adelaide Ivánova, two other young women poets from Latin America we have recently translated. Caputo has published two poetry collections and is the editor and founder of the Literary Magazine El Guajhú.

David Shook is a poet and translator. In 2010 he translated Zapotec Isthmus poet Víctor Terán for the PTC as part of our Mexican Poets tour. Shook is also the mastermind behind the Poetry Drone, which would ‘deploy poems printed on biodegradable, seed-embedded papers over populated areas.’

This is the perfect workshop if you speak Spanish or have an interest in Latin American culture.

There is no need to know the language being translated, just come along!
