Each week we translate a new poem by a living poet from Asia, Africa or Latin America, uncovering new poetic voices and getting real insights into new cultures. The Poetry Translation Centre's collaborative translation workshops are a great way to support international poets and find out more about vibrant cultures from around the world.

Our friendly, inclusive workshops are a great way to meet like-minded people.

The workshops are lead by the PTC's Commissioning Editor, the poet Edward Doegar. Each week he is joined by a different guest-translator, who introduces the group to a new poet who is often being translated for the first time. Starting from a bridge-translation the group works towards a new English language version of the poem. The process combines problem-solving with creative thinking, and the results are always fascinating. It is a great way to delve deeper into poetry or make use of your language skills.

The workshops are open to all. There is no need to know the language being translated.
